It’s human nature to overcomplicate matters — work, family, fitness, and health. I believe that’s because we overthink and are overloaded with conflicting, confusing information, causing worry, anxiety, and stress.
Walking and real food are the two main saviors I discovered to improve my life.
Thankfully, this happened to me 8 years ago by chance. But, on the other hand, I don’t believe in “luck” — everything happens for a reason, based on your actions and wishes.
I’ve mentioned this many times before, and I’ll repeat it again because it’s important.
I was an overweight, sick, stressed, and depressed mess back in the day. My saving grace, ironically, was a stroke.
You wouldn’t think a stroke would be a good thing to happen to you to save and make your life amazing.
It boils down to your actions, whether you’re positive or not, what you strive for, and how you behave toward others.
I walked my way to health and a great new life — I didn’t know that was possible at the time
Walking is the best way to get in your low-impact, heart-healthy aerobic exercise done.
Walking:
- Burns fat strengthens your joints and bone density
- Builds stronger leg and lower back muscles
- Promotes optimal cardiovascular health
- Improves posture
- Frees your mind from stress and boosts your creativity

I take 3 walks daily — morning, noon, and evening during the week. On weekends or when I go on a trip, I hike, trek, or walk for multiple hours a day.
I used to play several sports, but now, I primarily focus on my walking time, adding a few bodyweight strength exercises and the occasional sprint.
Walking — Bodyweight Training — Sprinting is all you need to do to build and maintain ideal fitness and health — along with “proper food.”
Discovering the most basic human movement — walking — in my mid-40s literally saved my mind and overall health.
It sounds too simple to be true, but it is.
Walking for work
I never ever thought that walking would positively impact my work, ideas, creativity, and productivity.
But it did, and how.
Once I dropped out of the corporate business world, I didn’t have a clue what to do to make money.
During one of my walks 6 or 7 years ago, a thought came to me:
“You have a lot of life experience, Rob. You are a former professional athlete and good at marketing, and now that you’re becoming healthy again, write about it and help others do better too.
You can do this — go for it and trust yourself.” Rob Hourmont
So, that’s what I did — I changed my life direction, left all I’d done before behind, and became someone else.
I studied nutrition, became a metabolic health coach, and became a writer, which, most importantly brought my confidence back.
That was 8 years ago. Since then, I’ve personally coached hundreds back to excellent health and helped thousands with my E-Books.

Final Thoughts
Walking changed my attitude, eliminated depression and anxiety, and helped me lose weight, along with real food.
I found a new life I love — thanks to walking thousands of hours over the past 8 years.
When you walk, you can talk to friends or business partners, create voice messages to yourself with new project ideas, meditate, or simply walk, look around, and thank the universe that you are alive and living a good life.
Walking gives you freedom and peace of mind.
I intend to walk many thousands of miles in the next 50 years, and I hope you will too!
Rob
