Some folks get lucky. That may be down to their genes, or something else. Who knows?
I know that just like every other kid, I ate tons of chocolates, candy, cakes, chewing gum, as well as mostly wheat-derived foods for most of my life.
Once you get started on the sweets, well, you’re done for and hooked.
The sugar addiction
Sugar is so yummy and addictive, plus the clever manufacturers add other ingredients that make you come back for more. You’ve got no chance.
I’m sure you’ve experienced the “I ate the whole chocolate bar” syndrome. It’s darn hard and often impossible to enjoy a couple of pieces, and then put the bar back in the fridge, and forget it.
You put the bar back, but your mind is constantly wandering back to it, thinking, I want more, now! In the end, you chomp the whole thing.
After that, the guilty feeling sinks in and you scold yourself — never again, I won’t buy another chocolate bar. Not until the next time, that is.
Moving on to the wheat and cereal addiction
Someone asked me a few days ago what cereal is healthy and can be eaten every day, with milk.
My short answer: None.
That’s because your so-called “heart-healthy” cereals are all a lie.
The manufacturers blatantly sell their products to you and your kids, by lying about what’s in them and how the ingredients affect your health.
Most cereals are made from wheat, and most have sugar added.
The Double Whammy?
- Processed wheat is high in carbs, which turn into glucose in your bloodstream, causing weight gain.
- Then you add your low-fat milk, again, loaded with carbs and usually has added sugar too.
And bang, there you have your carb- and sugar-loaded breakfast cereal mix, which hooks you, makes you fat and rots your teeth and gums.
I remember how much I used to love having Corn Flakes, Weetabix, Frosties, and the rest for breakfast. I’d smother them in milk, then add powdered sugar or some yummy honey.
When finished, I’d drink the sweet milk from the bowl. Why not? It’s just so yummy, it must be good for me!
The producers know this and sold it to you, the highest bidder, as the power breakfast for a healthy heart.
Then you’ve got all the other carb-loaded foods that are further enhanced with high-fructose-corn syrup.
A quick roundup of the culprits:
White and whole grain bread, pasta, noodles, pizza dough, low-fat yogurt, margarine, and more.
I lived off all the above until I stopped and fixed my health at 46.
But by 20, I had cavities in 95% of my teeth, followed by massively painful and expensive dental work done, replacing my teeth with gold fillings.
Ever since I stopped eating sugar and all wheat-based products, my teeth are in perfect health. I recently had my gums and teeth X-rayed — everything is healthy and my bone structure has recovered too.
Had I continued with the sugar and wheat assault, I’d probably have my personal set of fake teeth by now.
In Summary
Wheat and Sugar don’t just make you gain weight and develop a weak immune system, which leads to several health problems. Wheat and sugar are the major contributors to tooth and gum decay in the young and old.
Yet, few people learn. Instead, many parents pacify their kids by feeding them candy, even in this day and age. It’s a wonderful world for dentists.
