Most folks don’t know or care much about the spreading disease of obesity. Unfortunately, it’s become the norm in today’s society.
However, obesity normalization ignores the dangerous realities associated with metabolic dysfunction, hypertension, diabetes, heart attack, stroke, Alzheimer’s, and cancer.
Despite these dangerous facts and the potentially lethal consequences, the media and certain industries now glorify obesity, and promote it as healthy!
It’s far from healthy, and encouraging it to boost overweight people’s self-esteem is wrong and an approach that could have catastrophic consequences for millions of people.
Fat-shaming is harmful and unacceptable, yet pushing being fat as healthy and fine, is irresponsible and plain ignorant.
And why do they do this? Do you think it’s because they care about your feelings and want to make you happier in your skin?
No, they do it to drive sales and profits!
Look at the startling increase in obesity in the USA from 1990 to 2018, with a Body Mass Index above 30.
The further back in time you go, the less processed carbohydrate-rich and sugary food and drinks were available. Folks had to eat simple natural meals as that was what they could shop for and cook.
Today the vast majority have their shopping carts full of frozen pre-made meals, pizzas, cereals, bread, sodas, fruit juices, snacks, and candy.
These are highly processed “foods” full of carbs and added sugar that ends up in your fat cells, making you heavier.
Today’s standard western or Standard American Diet (SAD), drives excessive insulin production and fat storage, making people obese and sick.
This isn’t my opinion — these are facts for all to read online. Another way to validate my point here is to spend one hour in a shopping mall in the US, especially the food courts.
That’s where you’ll find the evidence and the industry slowly leading people to early deaths.
The mainstream media and the giant food production companies know this, but they don’t care. The only thing that matters to them is profit.
And this is why we have the never-ending, growing, and thriving medical, pharma, and insurance industries to care for the 80% of sick people in every country worldwide.
It’s a sad state of affairs, to say the least.
Can it be reversed? Yes, it can.
For that to happen, rules will need to change, and the food industry must be held responsible for terribly unhealthy foods they knowingly sell to unsuspecting consumers.
Will that ever happen? Not in my lifetime.
