People often ask me how I find the time to walk 6 miles daily — 10000 to 15000 — or more. You must have a lot of spare time on your hands to get all that walking in, Rob! That’s what they say because they don’t understand the concept, which I’ll explain here!
I have a little laugh every time someone says that because it’s the opposite. I never have enough time in the day to everything on my to-do-list done.
But I always try to complete my daily tasks, even if, at times, I have to work until 11 pm or later.
Walk the Talk
Walking 3 times per day for 30 to 45 minutes each is not that hard or time-consuming if you do it right. Right means — making the most of your time while you’re at it!
A reader commented:
That’s all well and good, but it’s still around 2 hours a day, and that’s a big chunk of time!”
Is it that a lot of time, and does it matter?
My walking time is creative and highly productive. I don’t only walk and do nothing.
I call it “active” or “meditative” walking.
I never view my walks as workouts or a must-do task that would stress me out if I didn’t.
Walking is my hobby — it makes me think, be more creative, and improve myself daily.
I admit — some days I don’t walk (albeit rarely), but it can happen, and there’s nothing wrong with that either!
The minutes you spend walking is always time well spent
Look at it this way:
Walking should become part of your daily life and your routine.
Why?
1 — Walking is the most underrated yet the best way to perform cardio and build excellent heart and organ health, strong legs, joints, and bone density.
2 — Simple walking stimulates the creative part of your mind, especially walking outdoors.
3 — If you walk a lot, you will suddenly find yourself coming up with all kinds of thoughts and ideas.
4 — In contrast, if you’re sitting on your backside watching TV, your brain is asleep and going nowhere.
Walk and Work
I’m not a smartphone addict, but my phone is mostly in my hand when walking.
I’m jotting down ideas, making voice recordings, messaging, or texting my colleagues or family.
When I arrive home, I sit down, review my notes, map out my day’s plan and fire away.
It works like clockwork every time!
Meditate – Exercise – Walk
On another walk, I set out with a different goal in mind.
Walk to exercise and meditate.
I don’t touch my phone during these walks. Instead, I focus entirely on my surroundings and absorb everything I see and hear while breathing deeply and slowly.
After 15 minutes, I pick a spot, drop to the ground and complete a set of planks, squats, and push-ups, followed by a 5-minute mind-calming headstand.
Then, I move on again and repeat the meditation walk and exercises 1 or 2 more times.
When I arrive home, I stretch, shower, relax on my bed for 15 minutes and then get back to work.
Deep and Productive Work comes with ease
I began this routine 8 years ago when I changed my life.
I transformed myself from a metabolic and mental mess to excellent health in both body and mind, which saved my life!
When I discovered the power of walking, I realized how much it helped me settle my mind.
With a calm mind, you can boost your creativity, resulting in much higher productivity!
Since then, my daily activities and “work” have come to me with ease and pleasure.
I no longer see my work as work — it’s my passion, habit, and hobby!

Final Thoughts
Start walking as often as possible without causing stress or time pressure.
It’s easy if you train your brain while walking. Mind training is challenging and fun.
Staying fully focused on nothing but your sights and sounds for 15 minutes is harder than it sounds.
There are millions of distractions everywhere, all the time time. Train your brain to focus.
You’ll see how you easily increase your productivity if you choose to walk and work and make it your pleasure time!
Walk fast, let your sweat and creative juices flow, make notes, and go!
Activate your whole body and mind when walking. Enjoy every moment and embrace the moment.
