“How can you have any pudding if you don’t eat your meat?!” The English Rock Band Pink Floyd had it right back in 1979 with the single “Another Brick in the Wall.”
The Paleo and Keto Diets allow you to eat all kinds of meats, animal products, vegetables and nuts, and seeds. The only items not allowed are anything made with grains (wheat) or sugar. Paleo also doesn’t allow dairy products. Sounds easy? It is if you understand and can commit. But, when you think about the Standard American Diet (which most people are stuck in) or look at what’s on sale in the supermarkets, you’ll start to wonder how on earth you can manage this diet.
The Carnivore Diet allows you ONLY to eat meat and all animal products. Not only that but as much meat as you can get your claws on or fangs in! Doesn’t that sound great to all you meat lovers? Yep, you can stuff your face with as many burgers or Rib-Eye Steaks as you like, no calorie or macro counting needed, just eat until you are full! Wait; what???
Sound crazy? Maybe not.
After all, humans are born carnivores, not herbivores—sorry, vegans. Carnivores, in the sense that we eat meat and other stuff, but we are drawn to meat! Ever since, we’ve been programmed to be Hunters and Gatherers. Our Primal Ancestors, some 2 million years ago, survived by eating fruits, nuts, seeds, vegetables, fish, seafood, and lots and lots of meat.
Think about this: Hunting and killing a big animal would feed a small primal tribe for days, if not weeks, without having to go out everyday and hunt. Living conditions were harsh, and preserving energy was a must to survive.
How can either the Paleo, Keto, or Carnivore Diet be healthy, with all that meat, you may ask? Aren’t we told that red meat gives us cancer and not to overeat it? Yes, we are, and it turns out that’s not correct. When you look at the SAD food pyramid, the leading food group stands out – wheat!
The SAD truth about the image and recommendations is that it’s telling folks to eat mostly wheat-based foods, some vegetables, fruit, and sugar is okay, they say. What they don’t tell you is that following this diet will eventually make you overweight and sick.
The standard American diet (SAD), or Western pattern diet (WPD), is filled with pro-inflammatory and allergenic foods, many of which are laced with artificial chemicals. This diet can damage and prematurely age your brain and increase your risk for many physical and mental issues.

Let’s face it, a lot of people live off this stuff in the photo below.
Natural Food.
I’m not a big fan of the word KETO. I prefer to explain the diet in a more simple form: eat natural, unprocessed foods, avoiding all sugars and grains.
The next thing I then hear is, “how can I get by without my beloved bread, pasta, rice, pretzels, and potato chips.” The answer is simple; you’ve been conditioned to love those foods, as they satisfy your sugar craving and are addictive, and all you need to do is refrain from eating them!
Once you understand what eating natural and real foods means, and add a little discipline, you’ll soon get over the urge to have those foods. Once that time comes – usually after 4 weeks – you become a fat-burning lean muscle-building machine!
What Can I Eat on KETO or CARNIVOR?
Here’s a quick list of each.
Carnivor:
- Meat
- Fish
- Seafood
- Eggs
- Dairy
- Fatty Meat Products
- Bone Marrow
Keto:
- Meat
- Fish
- Seafood
- Eggs
- Dairy
- Fatty Meat Products
- Bone Marrow
- Vegetables
- Nuts & Seeds
- Berries
- Coconut
- Bacon – Eggs – Avocado!
I listed the BEA separately at the end because I love what I call “The Three Musketeers.” Bacon – Eggs and Avocado.
The reason I’m a Keto Guy is simply because I love salads and all the delicious vegetable dishes I can make. Also, consuming nuts allows me to make the most fantastic almond flour foods, such as bread, pizza, cookies, cakes, pancakes, granola, and so on!
It’s important to understand the Keto Diet also doesn’t require calorie and macro counting. The best way to track your food intake is to know what you are eating (and what you shouldn’t), eat slowly and until you are full, twice a day. Healthy snacks in the form of cheese, nuts, dark chocolate, etc. are allowed throughout the day. Alcohol consumption is also accepted in moderation, which means I can enjoy my wine. Oh, I do love wine!
The Bottom Line.
It’s not hard to learn about and adjust to the Paleo or Keto Diet. Go for the meat only version with the Carnivor Diet if that makes you happy. Staying away from all forms of sugar and wheat-based foods is the key to weight-loss, management, and good overall health, both for body and mind.
