Another young gym fanatic tried to lecture me — the old man — with over 40 years of health, fitness, and life experience under his belt!
I’m 54 and have spent my whole life in sports and almost a decade in nutrition and health recovery.
I was an Olympic Athlete at 18, competing at the highest level in 1988. After my accident and I was forced to stop skiing, I became overweight and very sick in my 40s. To top it off, I had a stroke when I was 45.
Scared out of my life, I took action and studied a lot, and became healthy again!
Nutrition, heart-healthy training, and optimal lifestyle practices became my passion, and work.
After all, the stroke, my terrible cholesterol levels, and the calcium buildup in my bloodstream nearly killed me!
I had to figure out how to heal myself and have a life again. I did just that by following natural methods, not with medication!
Learn about your body and food instead of pumping iron for your looks
I used to be a gym rat — like the person who questioned my practices and the fact that I only eat meat, and no carbs and fiber.
He asked me the following question in response to my recent story:
“Can you explain why I ave a six-pack, am in excellent shape, and eat a lot of carbs?”
It didn’t take a moment to respond, because I knew it would be a waste of my time – he wasn’t willing to put in the time to learn the truth about food, fitness, and how it affects our bodies.
This person really believes a six-pack and “looking” in great shape means he’s healthy.
The mirror doesn’t lie! I look great, and that makes me the best, a sexy beast!
That mindset is flawed and a big mistake.
Eventually, I did reply, saying this:
“You are young — you’ve been overtraining while unknowingly busting your heart for years. That’s why you “still” have a six-pack. Does that mean you are healthy within your body? No!
The belly bloating and getting fat because of the pro-inflammatory foods you consume starts to set in at a later date. Usually, from your mid-30s to 40s.” Rob Hourmont

Final Thoughts
I am tired of reading all the incorrect the young non-experts put out there about food, training, health, and how to live a healthy life.
Please, do yourself and everyone else a favor. Learn, take time, and gather experience and fundamental knowledge.
Then, and only then, talk and write about it. It takes time and effort to learn how the body works best.
